Bankroll Management: The Only System That Protects Your Capital Long-Term
The Real Reason Most Bettors Lose
It's not a bad run. It's not bad luck. It's bad bankroll management.
Even a system with a 60% win rate can go bankrupt if stakes are uncontrolled. This is one of the most proven facts in betting mathematics, and yet it's the most ignored.
The Unit System
We operate on a unit system. Your total bankroll is divided into 100 units. Each tip carries a stake recommendation (usually 1-2 units). This means:
- A 20-tip losing streak costs you 20-40 units — painful, but survivable
- A 20-tip winning streak at average odds of 1.90 returns +19-38 units
This flat-stake approach removes emotion from the equation.
Why We Don't Use Kelly Criterion
Kelly staking is mathematically optimal but psychologically brutal. When your model says "stake 8 units", most people either:
a) Don't trust it and stake 1 unit anyway (underperforming) b) Trust it, take a big hit on a loss, and panic-quit
Flat staking is less optimal but far more sustainable for most people.
Our Recommendation
- Define your bankroll — an amount you can afford to lose entirely
- Never stake more than 2% of your bankroll on any single bet
- Track every bet in a spreadsheet (or use our performance page)
- Review monthly, not daily
Patience is the edge most people don't have.
